Jo is a highly intuitive practitioner whose osteopathic background provides her with a technical anatomy-based approach to treatment. Jo has experience treating a wide range of conditions, such as lower back pain, with a special focus on gut related issues. Abdominal massage explores the connection between the internal organs, posture, health, and emotional balance.
Jo qualified in 2016 from the British School of Osteopathic Medicine after practicing as a Thai Massage Therapist for over 10 years. After graduating, she taught visceral osteopathy at BCOM. Jo also practices Thai Massage, Chi Nei Tsang, Shiatsu and Craniosacral therapy.
Jo primary Thai Massage teacher is Ajahn Pichest, who is based in Hang Dong, Chiang Mai. Jo has studied with him since 2007 including the three year period she was based in Thailand. She has also trained in other modalities including Shiatsu, Blind Medical Massage (Chinese and Thai), Acupressure, Osteothai and Chi Nei Tsang.
Jo body work practice is intertwined with spiritual and meditative practices. This follows the tradition of Thai massage which pays homage to the Buddha’s physician, Dr Shivago as it’s spiritual founder (see blog article on Jivaka Kumar Bhaccha for more details).
