The Massage Shala takes place with massage practitioners practicing a communal space. This is normal practice in many countries in South East Asia. The shared space creates a safe and open atmosphere, welcoming all. The Massage Shala is based in non-fussy, tangible bodywork and healing practices which can be seen all over Asia- from the Chinese Tui Na and blind Massage styles, to Japanese Shiatsu and Reiki, to Thai, Khmer and Laotian bodywork traditions. All have the common belief that people can benefit from a full body tune-up. Massage is perhaps the oldest and simplest of all medical treatments. In traditional cultures, especially in the East, it is accepted as natural that people of all ages can benefit from regular massage.
Massage Shala takes place on the first Sunday of the Month in Haggerston, Hackney.
